Tomato flowers dropping off?

Hi all, got home last night and had a quick walk round me garden, and a chat to the veg as you do, when I was in deep descussion with my Toms about life in general, when i noticed a load of the flowers had just dropped off at the stem? they certainly wont be producing tomms but is this normal (and i dont mean talking to my veg!)

Give them a quick nudge and they'll soon wake up again. That or a bursting crisp packet usually works.

They tend to abort like this when they are too hot or dry. If they are in the greenhouse and you have opened everthing possible, try damping down the floor with a canful of water. The higher humidity can help.

Ahhh I have been thinking about that as I sit in a sun-baked hospitality unit (work - hurumph). It is also happening (a lot more) to my Apache chilli - I thought he may just been full to bursting with fruit so it is his way of ditching some but I'm going to try damping down the greenhouse...when I get back tomorrow...if there are any fruit/flowers left...if the toms and chillis haven't all wilted and died............

Yep we find that when it is too hot and dry in the greenhouse we too lose a few flowers.
What we do is increase ventilation and also spraying the plants with water helps too. I think the increased humidity helps a bit.

Sounds like blossom drop greenfingers and I'm having alot of problems with this at the moment.

I have been giving each plant a little spray of water each morning and tapping the main stem to aid pollination, but it just doesn't seem to be working. We have had a patch of really hot weather and it must be just too dry in the greenhouse. I'm going to try a little bit more spraying tomorrow to see if that helps. I'll let you know how I get on.
