Can't remember the varieties! Every year I mean to get organised
1 yellow one whoich I bought as a plant (golden something?)
2 round courgettes (seed from Lidl)
and a bog standard.
I think it may be because I have a bed system this year for the first time so no hard compacted soil. New neighbour also cut down a huge Eucalyptus tree and looming conifer
which has let a lot more light into the garden
Just before coming on here, I was looking for a Courgette Soup recipe, as we have been getting quite a few too. Thought I would post it. Has anyone treid this, It says it's really delicious?
AAArrrhhh they're taking over the kitchen. Thanks Callie for the recipe link, whole family will be forever grateful!! Does anyone else find the yellow ones very seedy? Sorry don't know the variety-lost the label.
I have been drying some for the last couple of days don't know what they will be like but worth the experiment as I have so many. Will be making another courgette cake tomorrow, they never go to waste.

I'm thrilled to bits - I've just picked the very first courgette that I've ever grown in my life I'm going to char-grill it I think and have it with an omelette made with the eggs my chooks laid this morning. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yum yum and all for free
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
Fwuffydragon, I thought that rather strange too about the Courgettes and keeping the skin on. I still haven't made the soup yet, but I read too that the skin has most of the Nutrients, like Marrow too.
Fry a chopped onion and 3 cloves of garlic until tender. Add a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric then add the diced courgettes (1.2kg). Cook covered for around 10 mins until courgettes are nice and tender. Add a teaspoon of cumin powder, a pinch of cayenne pepper, salt and pepper and 1 1/2 tablespoons of tomato puree. Puree with a potato masher and eat hot or cold. Courtesy of Madhur Hafrey.
