Ugh I really don't like ants. There were hundreds of winged ones all over the spinach yesterday, getting ready to take flight. I hope they all fly off somewhere really far away!!

Meanwhile, use your search button - there are loads of anti-ant tips. I'm not sure whether semolina really worked. We probably didn't use it enough as we had sooooo many ants nests it was difficult to be sure we had targeted them all. The chickens seemed to do a good job though!
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

hi afrench108,welcome to the vine,i would not worry about the ants in the compost as they will help it to brake down, this hot weather brings them out,if you look on the search,at top of page, type in ants and compost, see other threads on the subject.

i have found some eco friendly ant eaters but they seem expensive so i not to sure at minute..strange thing is i thought i had got rid of them as none appeared on the patio as they normally do, hot soapy water sorts them there but what will soapy water do in a compost bin???
