Cauliflower Problems

This is the first year I have grown caulis and they were going well until the curds developed.The curds are not compact and are growing apart.Is there any reason I can stop this or change for next year.

Hi I am new to this site and quite new to my allotment so looking for help on cauliflowers. I planted mine in June (after growing from seed). They have grown beautifully I.e. lots of healthy leaves but no cauliflower heads. Seeing as its now September am I going to get nothing other than leaves and if somewhat went wrong?

What variety are they? And whereabouts are you? Are your caulis in the ground or in pots?
