  • Mystery Seedlings???

I have noticed these seedlings on my plot, coincidently after I spread out some not so finished compost from my bin to dig in and have noticed them popping up, Does anyone know what they are as i will leave in or move if they are 'good guys'

Ahem sorry about the quality of the pics I used my camera phone and it doesn't do macro the seedings are about an inch 1/2 leaf to leaf

Bit early to tell - they bear a strong resemblance to both courgettes and borage. You might need to let them grow on a bit.

I think you might be right about the courgette, just looked up in google and they look very similar. Is worth keeping them if it is??

If they're courgettes I'd guess you still have enough time yet to get a bit of a crop out of them, if you have the space. Might also be a cucumber or butternut squash, they all look pretty much the same at that stage.

I think they look like Cerinthe.

leave them until they get their true leaves, and ask us again

Hope they reach their full potential.
They can be a little awkward during dry spells, so I wish you the best of luck.

My money is on them being courgettes or squash, too. Good luck with them!

courgetts, and marrows leaves tend to be sharp pointy things and furry, and the plant very prickly, where as butter nut, some melons and other types of squash leaves have a more rounded leaf, and a bit thinner, this i have noticed this year,i have a stray at home, and waiting to see how the leaf shape emerges,it's a bit like waiting for baby,to see what you get,my one is about 4 inch from the path,so i will have to move it,i know it will go where IT wants otherwise lol,
