My strawberries finished fruiting a couple of weeks ago, and I've trimmed off all the leaves over three inches tall (as suggested by gardening magazines I've been reading this month).. but what do you do with the new leaves that are growing up? Do you continue to trim them off, or leave them to grow over the winter?

trimming off strawberry leaves.
By doing the trimming you may also find that you get a small second crop if we get any sort of later summer. One of thje old boys at our allotments swears by the rules of as soon as the strawbs have finished take a lawnmower to them which virtually removes everything above the ground. He always get a decent second crop. However I don't really know if this is working the plant too much each year.
