Xmas potatoes

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if i am to late to plant potatoes for xmas? I cant see any in the shops. Am i also way to late for plug turnips? Cheers

Haven't put my xmas potatoes on yet. Taking main crop as taking 15 weeks to cropping then mid Aug should be the ideal time. That will allow a few weeks grace for a slower growing time due to lower temps.

My dads put his xmas spuds in pots in his greenhouse. Saw them yesterday, their about a foot tall.

Do you have to use seed potatos for your christmas pot or will main crop ones that are sprouting do?

we planted a couple of our first earlies yesterday in a sack outside...got 10 more in the fridge resting for a couple of weeks to plant...will cover them or put them in the greenhouse before the frosts come...

Mine are in the fridge at the moment but will be put in buckets in the garden later this month before being moved into the greenhouse when the weather gets a colder, and when there is a bit more room!
