    how easy or difficult is it to get a plum stone to germinate ????
    fancy trying something different and while eating a plum thought id give a go any hints though

    not sure, but i chopped the top off the shell off 6 and planted 6 without cutting the top off, back in april, still waiting for anything to happen, so my guess is very ....... the peach and nectarine ones haven't germinated either

      Hi, I did this last year, same thing thought I would give it ago. I dried the stone and then put it in the fridge for a couple of months, then planted it in compost at the begining of this year and so far it has put growth on to about 15in. So give it ago I'm trying a nectarine this year ..good luck

        Dead easy! Just throw them on the ground and leave them to it. I get loads of seedlings germinating from fruit that fall off my Victoria each year. Try to pick them all up, but always miss some. However, the seedlings won't be the same as the parent tree due to cross pollination. If you want to do it as an experiment, then go ahead but if you want a reliable fruit tree then you should buy a named variety.
