Yes the compost in your pots only have food for a limited amout of time so adding MG or Phosphrogen can only do some good

In raised bed the plants should be getting the majority of their needs from the soil but an extra boost every now and again wont do any harm.

I use Miracle Grow for decorative pots and planters. It's water soluble and you just put a measured dose in the can, top up with water and away you go. It works well as a general fertiliser, but if you're growing tomatoes or chillies you would be better to get Tomorite - the balance of nutrients is slightly different.

BTW, Miracle Gro is not organic, it's synthetic. In case anyone's bovvered.

I'm sure you can get Miracle Gro Organic. I'm sure that's what I used on my chillies, peppers and tomatoes before I switched to Tomorite once they had set fruit and they have all done great.

You can buy an organic miracle grow version now - don't know if it's any good but did note they had a stall at Tatton the other week.

Yes do, Tracy. Beans are very greedy feeders.

I used a seaweed based organic fertilizer, Maxicrop? I think it's called.

My beans are doing very well this year and I'm putting it down to the container of bokashi which I buried beneath them a few weeks before planting out.
