  • surely they cant get bigger!!

for some weeks now i have been enjoying the gardners delight in the greenhouse, but the other toms in there (i dont know what they are as threw the packet out before i realised) well they are getting so big and some are the size of a beefsteak tom, now I am 100% positive that I didnt plant beefsteak, i just thought they would be standard size toms!!!

My one question is, will they go red soon, do beefsteaks take longer, because of the size, cause i cant wait to eat them, they look so delicious (even if they are green!!)

    cheers

Bigger toms do take longer to ripen, but as soon as one starts they'll all follow on quite quickly. If you really can't wait, Fried Green Tomatoes isn't just a movie title

I normally pick them before they turn red and let them ripen inside, so they don't rot on the vine. It seems to be a problem with the huge beefstakes. Mine were so heavy they were pulling the plant to the ground.

I'm growing Black Krim this year and thought they were a black cherry tomato but they're ENORMOUS!
