  • Organis slug pellets

    Hiya

I've been using these organic slug pellets around my lettuce since the little buggers had a field day on the first lot:

I'm a bit concerned about them though. Not only do they seem to have done something nasty to leaves they were left on (some fell on leaves when I sprinkled them and the leaves now have what looks like burn marks on them) but the ones left on the soil are going mouldy.

Is this normal or have I got a dodgy batch?

    Thanks in advance

I use these too and have also noticed they go mouldy, so I think that's normal.
I'm very careful not to let them get on any leaves we might eat so not sure about the 'burn' marks, it's certainly possible though.

I noticed recently on holiday in Devon that RHS Rosemoor uses these in their kitchen garden.

Blimey they are expensive from there!!! I buy them in Wilkinsons for under 4 quid a pot! They do look sort of mouldy when they get wet but don't worry about that. I go round and brush them off the leaves after I have treated an area so can't help with the burning there sorry.

Yes they are pricey on there - I paid under £4 from my local gaden centre!

Glad to hear the mould thing is ok, thanks. I know I should have brushed them off all the leaves but the lettuce was quite advanced when I sprinkled them so a lot went on and I got most off but not all. I stupidly thought watering / rain would wash them off but instead it seems to have made them stick! I'll be more careful in future.

I've used the nasty version of pellets and also seen burn marks, on the courgette and butternut squash leaves. I wasn't so careful to brush off these ones, as we don't eat the leaves!
