well i thought that Lynda but the plot hasn't been used for at least 10 years, if not more, so unless they have self seeded or a gust of wind blew a potato, parsnip seed and spinach seed then we have an allotment marmoset.

Thank you for sending the planting fairy to me Lynda. I've got a potato growing in a newly made (well a couple or three months ago) raised bed. There was chicken coop sweepings as the first layer, then some compost from the bit og garden the chooks live in, then some compost out of my dalek thingy, then some used grow-bag compost on top of that. At the moment it's got tomatoes and lettuce growing in there (doing very well too) but once that's cleared, it's going to be an asparagus bed. This spud is at one end away from the tomatoes but slap bang in the middle of the lettuce!! Next time the fairy comes, please can he/she spread the manure I've just got for a strawberry bed please? Me back's killin me

I`ve just had a thought (yes I do have them). Wasn`t it you Linda66 that had some melons or pumpkins growing in the middle of your lawn when you accidently put the seeds down instead of grass seeds one evening.
Could you have done the same thing with your other veg?

yeah i have melons in my lawn, but that was cos i spilled them (i didn't really think they were grass seeds lol)and figured they wouldn't grow anyway when i filled in the dents in my lawn with compost ...... kind of covering them over and they were next to the bed i planted them in (and none of those actually grew) ...... these are too random for that, and most of them are a totally different size to the ones i actually planted .... that's what is so confuddling and no definitely didn't spill anything else, as most of the stuff thats growing where it shouldn't, the only seeds i sowed were indoors.
