I maybe getting a lottie at last

i put my name down for a lottie a while ago got a phone call that they may have one available in a month or so and was i still interested depending on who above me on the waiting list is interested depends on whether a full lottie or a half plot is available, but great news all the same. also if i take a half lottie if no full one available when a full is available when my name gets to top of the list i still get first refusal so i wont miss out on a full lottie but can also still keep renting the half lotties as well if i want. and looks like it will be late sept or oct when i get it so a great time of year to get it. any advice on winter greens thats not too exotic and when to sow the seeds as i want to make the most from day one of my plot this will so make a change from container growing.

Even if you get half, at least it's a start - and good news you'll be bumped to prime position should a full plot become available.

Well done ! I've got half a lottie and you can certainly grow some good stuff in that amount of space. It's not too overwhelming either.

Brilliant news, it's exciting isn't it!

For winter veg you can try kale, not too late to sow leeks if you don't mind eating them as babies. I imagine you can still do cabbages. Oriental greens. You could also try buying in some young plants.

And then there is autumn sowing for onions, garlic, broad beans and all sorts. There's an autumn sowing thread at the top of the forum.

got the phone call today its a full lottie that was manured in winter but has quite a few weeds and previous occupier just grew one small strip of potatoes so soil should be quite good. it has boundry poles that i will wire for some raspberries down both sides and is fenched front and back with a gate. fruit trees and currants are allowed too! and all for £10 a year good sized plot too. im chitting some potatoes for my greenhouse hope they will be ready end of august but does anyone know if i put these in the lottie if it will be too late for the ground and if not when will they be ready ive only grown them where my last harvest was planted june time previously. also when is the latest i can plant carrots. all help is really appreciated as i into to make the most of the plot.

congrats on your lottie, fab news, too late for spuds in ground this year (you might get away with them in buckets in the greenhouse if youve got one) ...carrots ive just put another lot in a raised be on the lottie, they wont be massive but worth a try try an early like Early Nantes. Think about barassics....PSB, cabbage,kale etc. Good luck

Well done on getting your lottie, I got mine in June and although it was very overgrown, I followed advice I'd been given on here and just cleared it bit by bit. I dug over and planted out 4 beds of stuff, then once that was all going nicely, I started on the rest of the plot - I covered it all up and have just started digging and weeding it little by little.
