Pepper plant loosing al it's leaves

Hey everyone

When my chilli plant started 'fruiting' its leaves started falling off. Now there are only a few leaves remaining and about 15 small chillis growing, but seem to have stopped.

I was told they liked damp soil so I put it in a pot without drainage holes. Is this wrong? Am I drowning the plant?

Any help or advise is very welcome.

Your drowning it James not just that it is sitting in stagnant water, pot it up into the next size pot then if there are any roots left alive they can grow into the new compost, as for liking it damp on hot days I water my chilli's first thing in the morning and again late afternoon less if the weather is not that good.

mine did the same...so i topped up the compost...seems to be doing fine now

I think they like it humid rather than sopping. Try the advice above.

I'd repot it into a pot with drainage holes using free-draining compost. I wouldn't pot up unless it looks root bound and I'd get rid of as much of the old compost as I could without ripping the roots. If you've some perlite add that to your potting compost to aid drainage. Let the plants compost dry out slightly between watering.
