ginger !!

hi i have just seen some ginger in my local supermarket and it has 3 or 4 shoots on it can i just break it into sections and plant it or does it need more than that ? cheers tracy

Yes but too late this year. It is a tropical crop and needs a good summer. Might be worth growing simply as an experiment.

Must learn to read the location bit. Really is worth the try Tracy.
Do a google I found some good sites when I looked. Seem to remember that one could still get a worth while crop of 'stem' in cooler climates.
I might try some on my balcony in Malaysia this year.
