      Wow, that is really hot. My OH and I are off on holiday there in about 5 weeks, hope it has tailed off a little by then.

        september is our hotest month with up to 45 in the shade swimming is a must just to cool down and we all have to work in that heat .... well cant complain cause i hate english winters

          Black plastic or fabric mulch warms the soil up even more...

          Could recommend melon/watermelon, squashes, pumpkins, corn should cope, too. Try Asian cukes, karela and sweet potatoes. Could also branch out into soy, bananas, citrus, pineapples... My heart goes out for you.

            even my sqaush and pumpkin look sh** they only have some small babies on them but the leaves are dry and brittle , i think we only have about another 5 to 7 weeks of this intense heat left so i will try lots more when it cools a bit x

                Are you planting 'local varieties' Tracy, these plants are from very warm climate areas - pumpkin, squash, both melons - they specially engineered to do something on cooler climes.
