carrot question

planted carrots a good few months ago, pulled them when they were ready and quite a few have forked. anyone know what causes them to fork and are they still edible?

Yes, they are still edible.

3 things can cause carrots to fork:
firstly, too much goodness in the soil [so don't put general fertiliser or manure in before carrots].
then there's the odd stone or two which they grow around.
Then it could be that you transplanted, and the roots were splayed when you did so.

as zazen said find mine some times do it but not often and mine are mostly grown in compost and get a basic fruit and veg feed like liquid grow more
