that made me chuckle, petite wasn't quite the word i had in my head, and can just imagine sons face when he gets 2 of them on his plate *wonders if i should do mash or roasties lol*
but they are quite cute aren't they, i'm itching for them to get bigger now so i can dig them all up .... it really is a very exciting moment.

Potatoes are my absolute favourite thing to grow. I love the waiting, digging up and discovering what the crop is like, the satisfaction of storing away for winter like some medieval peasant, then that meal when everything on the plate is homegrown....you can't beat it..... But then, I am easily pleased.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

As my ole Nan used to say 'Patience is a virtue'........no, I never understood it either.
As for the medieval peasant thing.......thinking about it, they didn't have spuds did they?Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Don't tell anyone but...I think a little thankyou and a whoop of joy even now after all these years as I take my crops.
So much can ( and does) go wrong with GYO fruit and veg, that it's a wonderful feeling when the plants have actually managed to produce something for us to eat!
I NEVER waste anything we've grown ( I'm very careful with shopbought stuff too)but after growing those little babies in the soil......."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

you're definatly not the only 1 who feels like that, I imagine everyone on here does.. it's the happy compensation for all the blisters and slugs and weeds that can bring you down.. i always try and bring something home from the plot when i visit, even if it's just a handful of beans or spinach cos it makes me feel good still get a rush when I collect eggs from my hens too, especially is they're so fresh they're still warmI have a dream:
a dream that, one day, chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

Growing your own is great, no doubt about it - but eating your own has to be one of the most satisfying things ever!
Your first ever potatoes are very special, but don't worry, you're first potatoes every year are magical.Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
