my lettuces were taking over the herb bed, ie i sowed 20 times more than i will actually eat, so i decided to show off and took the biggest 3 round for the neighbours. not really being neighbourly, just sticking 2 fingers up at those who mocked ....... wish i'd taken a photo though, but 2 of them said how yummy they were.
and we had our first lettuce salad last night.(ie it was a salad with errrr just lettuce.... ok so it was a pile of lettuce on the plate.) was really looking forward to trying the chicory this week too, but last night i seem to have been over run with baby slugs, and they have totalled the only one that was anywhere near ready
there was about 20 of the blighters all over it this morning. they are now ex baby slugs.
but i've just pulled up a huuuuuge turnip too, last weekend it was ping pong ball sized, today it's bigger than a tennis ball, cant believe it grew so quick. but we shall be eating it tonight.
