  • Help my mange tout please!

Hi people. This is my first post so hoping for some advice. Growing mange tout has been problematic this year as they flower, start producing pods but then start going yellow from the bottom of the plant which then spreads upwards. They're not drying out, they are in lovely soil mixed with home-made compost and I just don't know where I'm going wrong this year. Thanks for any help.

It might be a soil deficiency of some type, that can make leaves turn yellow. Or as you say you've got good soil and have added garden compost, it might be not so much that the nutrients aren't in the soil but maybe something is stopping the plant from taking up all the nutrients it needs (possibly the weather, too wet, too dry, irregular watering? soil PH??)

Seaweed spray always seems to crop up - good overall tonic, perks the plants up if they have a micronutrient deficiency. Might be worth a try? (You can get it down the garden centre if you don't happen to live by the sea lol)

Might be something else entirely, I'm sure someone who knows what they are on about will be along soon.

Anyway - what I really mean to say is - welcome to the vine
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Peas are a cool weather crop.
It may be too warm for them. (Where are you? Can you put your location into your profile?)
