  • Best time for autum Dig/compost??

i would love to know at what time of year you all dig over your plots after harvesting and when you add your compost...
I plan to empty a full bin on each side of my garden when i finish harvesting (only beans, lettuce, parsnips and tomatoes left) but i have emptied one side so would now be the time to dig my compost in or should i wait...Any other over wintering tips greatly recieved, thanks
    I'll be SLACK!!!

I'm here for a good time, not a long time

You can dig in compost anytime really; it's mostly done in the autumn because that is when there is no veg growing. I've just dug a load in where my potatoes were , it's easier to dig the compost in when the soil is loose after digging up spuds.

Carrots and parsnips won't form good tap roots in freshly composted soil though, again this is why autumn digging is preferred. There is also the no dig method where you just lay the compost on the surface and let the worms dig it in for you.
