  • winter potato survival????

Hi i planted my pots in pots!! and then they have been earthed up to the top, but by some stroke of luck (NOT) it looks like some of my friendly slugs have been having a field day!!!!!

Some are ok, but some of the stems have been attacked and have come away in my hand!! Shall i leave them and see what happens, I know i have nothing to lose, but so annoyed with my attack!!

Also, they are growing really tall shall i use some canes on them to stalk them up??

    cheers

A couple of the potato threads from the last day or so have been about overwintering spuds. Someone said they had to cut down their xmas spuds because of blight and they regrew in spring perfectly healthy. However my brain has stopped working and that's as much as I can remember. It must be your distracting new avatar...

LOL!!!! thanks demeter, i have been reading, but wasnt sure so thought i would ask, i am hoping that they do grow back, no blight just lots of snail and slug damage! i know it is because of the dodgy slim stuff!! What is left of the stem/stalk i have clubbed together and put string around a cane in the middle of the pot to keep them upright!

        Fingers crossed eh!

ps. glad you like the avatar! LOL!!

I've been reading your blogspot ref growing for Tesco!!! With the price of veg and stuff, sometimes it seems I'm working for Tesco.

Sorry I can't help with the spud problem, but would love to hear how it turns out.
