Does anyone have a Greencone?

I`m thinking about getting a greencone for the garden as our local council will have them on offer.
I have 2 compost bins, but you can put all kitchen waste including scraps and cooked bones in them.
Does anybody already have one? And are they anygood?

Green Cone

Green Cone is a Food waste digesting system.The Green Cone reduces food waste to its natural components of water, carbon dioxide and a small residue. The solar-heated garden unit takes all cooked and uncooked food waste including meat, fish, bones, dairy products, vegetables and fruit.


I dont have one Sharonr, but i do have a wormery for green kitchen veg scraps.

I think with these green Cone systems you will really have to think about where to site it, as its not easily moved once installed and i can imagine they could become pretty ripe at certain times of the year.

Also to get the best from it, or make the best use of the price, you would have to produce lots of waste, but then if it were me, i would question why i'm producing so much waste.

If you only produce a bit of waste, such as cooked food, bones etc... I would personally prefer the bokashi system, then you would produce a 'material. could can compost and a juice you can make use of. You would however have to budget into the cost to replace the Bran.

I rarely eat oat with bones in or produce cooked waste, so the Wormery was for me. I'm getting nice worm compost, and lots of worm wee plant food

I know LCCC are having a big sale Sunday, and the Wormery system Can-of-Worms (which is the best system available) is available less than half price, also the bokashi System, and compost bins are all available.

I might see you there, i could do with another compost bin.

I'll tell you this Sharonr, a lot of people outside our council area are very jealous of our councils discounted recycling offers.

Having seen this thread, I went on to our local council website (Waverley Council in UK, not France) and discovered that are offering discount on the Green Cone and Johanna. I've ordered the Johanna as this seems more useable than the Cone for our needs as it will produce compost. It'll be added to our other compost bin collection.

i have an orange cone ..... apparently son and his mates found it on the way home from town one drunken night ...... it serves no practical use in my garden whatsoever.

A bigger version of Green Cone, however it produces usable compost, as you add green waste as well.
