  • plot for growing

ive just been given a plot of land by an elderly neighbour. first thought was to put spuds in as its relatively low maintenance. would it be best to dig the plot over and manure (it will be fresh though)

If you're planning to plant 'late-cropping' potatoes, I wouldn't bother with the manure, they'll do ok without it - just chuck some chicken manure over it & feed with tom food later on. You'll need to provide some frost protection though (if you get any down there?!). Use the manure on the areas you'll be growing in next year instead.
    Yay for elderly neighbour!
