  • How much muck to use ?

I've just managed to get an unlimited supply of 3+ year old well rotted horse muck.

It's such good stuff it's almost 50% earthworms and completely black.

My question is how much can you put on in 1 go ,i.e can I add too much ?

I'm thinking of putting about a 2 inch layer on the whole plot as I've not put any on for a couple of years.

Or can I add it in unlimited amounts ?
Please have a look at my Veg Growing Diary.

    Thanks.

If its that good I would put it on a foot deep where you are going to plant your spuds and brassicas

If it's as old and as clean as you say, pile it on - you can never get enough. Not only will it build fertility but will also improve the soil structure for years to come. Just remember that not all crops like freshly manured ground.

Gardeners' Question Time used to have a chap called "Sowerbutts" (I think his first name was "Fred". He always said that muck like your's should be put on to a height no higher than the windowsill.
