How much I should plant, where I should plant.

Use Bocking 14 as it won't try and take over!

A bed 4 foot by six foot will supply enough to keep you going in comfrey tea for a season plus a bit left over for mulching.

I don't think it's feasible to grow enough to manure your beds because the area required would probably be about twice your veg plot!

In allotment terms that would be bne allotment for growing veg and two other allotments for growing comfrey to manure first one! eek!

Queen! There are 100s of threads on this already!

(I have Bocking 14, it doesn't spread or self-seed, but is easily propagated from root cuttings in spring)
I make liquid feed from it, and I put the cut leaves into my compost heap to accelerate the decomposition.

      Brilliant stuff. Love it

Well, I have a bed of comfrey at the front of my plot (I inherited it, didnt know what it was until you kindly lot told me!) but it obviously isnt bocking 14 because it has spread EVERYWHERE!! I hate the stuff, cant get rid of it, so please all, listen to those who know and only use bocking 14 or you'll be overrun!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
