Netting PSB

I have just planted what remains of my psb (had 50 seedlings - after rabbits and sun now just 5)
I have given them, and the few caulis left, drinks bottle collars to keep out nasties. I want to net them too. Will they neeed to stay netted until harvest? If so what sort of height should I be making my net? I thought I would use plastic piping arches to support the net. I haven't grown overwintering stuff before and as I only have a few I want to be sure I have enough to eat come the spring!! Any advice??

Do you have woodpigeons in France? Then net your PSBs.
Mine are about 3 foot tall, so I have 4 foot high net over them, supported on canes, linked at the top with old hosepipe (like your plastic piping whatsit)

I can't say that I have ever heard pigeons here??! Could be that the birds of prey keep them away... Are they the only problem?? Perhaps I should net them to 4 feet 'just in case'.

Wide mesh netting will keep the pigeons off, but to keep the butterflies and caterpillars off you will need fine mesh netting.

How soon is 'soon'?! They can do a lot of damage in about 5 minutes, the evil cabbage white I usually don't uncover mine til the first hard frost, just to be on the safe side!
