  • What's attacking my sweet pepper plant?

I've just gotten back from holiday to find that my sweet pepper plant has holes in over half the leaves and what appear to be tiny black specks on lots of them There is also some cobwebby type stuff around the leaves. Does anyone know what this could be and how I could get rid of it? (apologies if it's something very obvioous, I'm new to all this).

It doesn't seem to be affecting the growing peppers yet but I'm guessing it will soon (the plant is inside by the way).

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a caterpillar - the black specks will be frass (poo)

I been a-Googling: surprisingly, it sounds like a Cabbage Looper caterpillar (they attack peppers too) www.infonet-biovision.org - Cabbage looper

The tomato moth, cabbage moth and silvery moth all enjoy tomato and pepper plants, also can over-winter in the soil, I think.

Ahhhh. I thought the black things were some kind of mite but a closer looks reveals you're all right. Some horrid little green caterpillars were sorting themselves out with nice crysalis' around the edges of leaves. I've trimmed off the worst affected leaves and any that had the little buggers on them. Fingers crossed the plant will keep up the fight and the peppers will survive!

          Thanks so much everyone
