Overwintering aubergines

So: I managed one big-ish aubergine this year (which had to be picked early when I found a happy snail with his head about a cm into it...) and a couple of little ones too, all off the same plant.

Question is: are aubergines like peppers/chillies in that I can cut back, protect from frost and overwinter? has anyone done this?

You can try, but aubergines are the most tender of all - you would need to keep your greenhouse temperature at a minimum of 5 degrees (and they would probably prefer 10 degrees to be honest).

If you are over-wintering other tender plants it might be worthwhile, but otherwise it's not really worth the fuel bills.

If you have a conservatory it might be worth a go.
