    hi i not too sure,

i put my used compost in the composter when i have had my veg in it, or i have scattered some on the soil just to mix it up and keep it soft! i would think that the veg would have used up all the nutrients in the compost, so that there would be none left for the flowers, you can all but try, why not experiment and try some in new and some in old.

Problem with reusing compost is that there may be fungal spores/overwintering insects/slugs eggs/weed seeds etc in it. ( as well as it being nutrient deficient ...although you can add that)
Best to heat treat it first in the microwave or oven first.

Personally, I would re-use it, because I'm tight. As long as there's no obvious fungus/fungi/algae on it.
