How much room do they need? Far more than you think!!!!!!! All my winter squashes have spead everywhere this year so I should be able to store some. Am going to try and leave them on until just before the first frosts but suppose there's always a risk I'll get it wrong!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Never grown them before but I bought two plants and its a bit like the triffids but you can pinch out the ends to stop them once you have enough fruit set. Mine just kept sprouting new growth.

Mine haven't even had flowers yet but are on their way! I may have planted them too late

I've got lots of lovely flowers on my pumpkin plants but no pumpkins yet

Is there a time when I should give up and try a bit earlier next year?

Where are you gardening Clare? Lots depends on your location and it would really help if you add it to your profile (county will do) as it will then show up on any posts you make and save us asking every time.

I planted seeds quite early in the year & kept them indoors until all chance of frost had past - I think it was probably early May before they went into the ground. I now have about 30 large butternuts on my plants , think it's the warmer weather here in the west of France that does it. Not quite sure when to pick though. I have read that I must wait for the first frost, can anyone confirm this? Will try to post a photo of the butternuts later on in the week.

I received some BNS seeds in the post the other day but I don't know who they're from. Who sent them? What a lovely surprise, I would love to say a huge thanks. What kind are they, looking forward to enjoying them next year, yum.

              Hey Rustylady,

Where I live should come up now I've just altered my profile. I live in Scunthorpe Nth Lincolnshire, hey someone has to!

I put my pumpkins & squashes in as plants on 31st July, squashes were a bit bigger than pumpkins.

              Regards
