Drying Peas For Seed

Can anyone advise me the best way to dry out peas, so as I can use them for seed next year?

I spread mine out on a tray and left them in the spare bedroom for about two weeks. then put them in an envolope, they looked fine so i am hoping they will be ok for next season.

I tend to leave them in the pod till it goes crispy and rattles. I dry them on newspaper on the dining room table - which you can hardly see as we speak! I think drying them in the pod helps because the pod draws moisture out of the seed as it too dries. I've saved peas and beans for some years now and the germination rate is easily as good as the seeds you buy. Best of luck with them.

this time of year, my seed trays are full of drying things...and are all in the shed waiting until they are dry enough to put in envelopes.

Thanks a lot for your advice - have already podded one batch. But with the remainder that are still on the plants, I will leave them in the pods to dry out.
