Peppers

I currently have 2 pepper plants that have lots of fruit on them some are only just developing others are approx 1 inch in size. im getting concerned about the cold weather closing in as they are just in a platic greenhouse.

What would everyone do with them?

I'd just wait and see what happens! I don't think we'll get a frost for a while, yet, but if we do, maybe protect them with something? If the fruits have set, then surely you'll get *something*?

I just bring them in when it gets too cold or frost is threatened, they do really well on a sunny windowsill.

Maffie, if they're in pots, bring them indoors and put them on the window sill as Bride says. If they're planted in the ground, wrap the plants in something - fleece/old net curtains. Or, wrap the whole greenhouse in old blankets or something overnight (if it's one of those small lean-to types) and take them off in the morning.

Its a small greenhouse but they are in pots so I think bringing them in may be best. My aubergines may have to have the same treatment too.

Peppers don't really like anything below 7 degrees C so they'll do much better if you bring them indoors. If you haven't got double glazing or your house is pretty cold anyway, don't leave them next to the window at night because the fluctuating temperature between night and day won't do them any good.

I have a pepper plant in my greenhouse at the moment with 3 green peppers that i am leaving to ripen i plan to bring them in as soon as it gets frosty. i brought my chilli peppers in last year and managed to ripeneven the green ones and they lasted till at least dec.

Moved mine into the GH at the weekend.
Chucked out a dead melon to make space...
I've already had about a dozen fruit off the 2 plants and there are loads more green ones to come - I want to give them every opportunity to ripen!

There are at least 6 starting to grow beyond an inch and at least another 10 fruits starting. I think my house is going to be greener indoors than my garden!
