Pak Choi

I sowed a bed of pak choi some months ago as I love it in stir-frys. All the plants grew well and I had a good crop, however, there was absolutely no taste in any of the plants! In fact I ended up feeding them to our labrador (who eats anything) they were so tasteless.
Is there any reason for this?

I like pak choi but have found it difficult to grow (1. flea beetle 2. doesn't heart), however it doesn't have a lot of flavour, I usually boil it briefly, drain, then a splash of soy for a nice healthy side order. It's more the texture than the taste.
