  • GYO Vegetable Offer- seeds

Anyone orderd the vegetable seeds in the January magazine?

Did you find it misleading, as there are 2 pictures of different varieties of carrots and only one listed.

The brussel sprouts variety listed as orange, I can only find as the green variety in all seed catalogues - haven't found an orange one with the same.

Anyone confused or is it just me?

H'mm interesting Lottie. I will point this out to Georgina. I'm sure there is a sensible explanation!

      Thanks Neil

I appreciate that - I have just taken out a year's subscription and received my first copy, the January issue.

I only stumbled across your magazine after finding this forum, and apart from the hiccup with the Readers Offer that I have ordered I think that it is a really interesting magazine, and have enjoyed reading it.

This Forum is really good too, both the layout and the content.

      Regards

        Hi Neil

        Any news

So disappointed that I haven't heard anything - and my blog readers are dying to know the outcome too.

        Best wishes

          Lottie,

Hope this might be an explanation.....2 carrot pics - 1 variety (early nantes)listed in seed paragraph, 1 variety (all year round) listed in veg kit paragraph.

As for the sprouts they list them as 'Topline', I can't see a mention of orange. If you are going by the picture this is a printing fault where no red ink has been applied. (The inks are generally applied by primary colour, one over another to create the desired blend rather than mixing the colours and then applying.)

This is just my take on it....hope it helps

Oh, I ordered it because I thought it was a new variety of brussels sprouts. they managed to print the lettuces green though!

I ordered the veggie seeds on offer and the Niche salad leaves, only to find that T&M were doing them for 69p!

Shame I didn't get a reply from Georgina, she did say that she would check it out and then must have forgotten.

You might think me daft, but I really did think that they were a new variety of sprouts - I have been ordering different and unusual varieties of veggies for my allotment next year.

This has been my second full year of growing up the lottie so I am not as clued up as you guys.

Thanks for taking the trouble Geordie - appreciate it.

Lottie - No it's not daft, they come up with all sorts of weird and wonderful new varieties of vegetables these days. I am sure there are purple sprouts and look at all the different colours of carrots you can get.
