rotten squash and pumpkins???

i made a discovery today, normally when the flower at the end shrivels, i break it off just before it goes liquid and full of flies, doesn't seem to cause a problem......... today i found 2 that i'd missed breaking the flowers off, and they were half rotten, from the flower end.

just thought i'd mention it in case anyone else is having the same problem.
