I'm still picking yellow courgettes
I am thrilled to say that up to now I am still picking courgettes. I had three small ones yesterday and there are still three or four small ones growing. In the polytunnel of course. Aurelia F1 and Parador F1 have done me proud this year with a very good supply of courgettes. I could not be happier. I will be planting these next year. With the Parador when I was planting them in a grow bag I took both plants out of their pots and planted one and then stepped back and stood on the other one. I thought it was a gonner so I put it in a smaller tub hoping that it would be okay but not worrying about it.

It grew really good and has only just stopped providing fruit. In future I will only put one plant per grow bag.

Is anyone else still cropping courgettes?

i've still got loads of squash and courgettes growing, and pumpkins ....... gonna shove the polytunnel over them tomorrow, and see if i can keep them going a bit longer, but i've a freezer drawer full off 4 plants, i think the courgettes were defender?? and some kind of patty pan squash.

Hi Lydia66 My pattypans never really got going, I have only had two butternut squash named Hunter. We had a slight frost last week and it killed all our pattypans, butternut squash and our outdoor courgettes. We have not done so well this year.

i planted mine late (june) and wasn't really expecting much, but been dead chuffed with them, no sign of any fruit on the butternuts yet though, but not had any frost, here, and it's still warm enough not to need the fire on, so fingers crossed i might get a few more under cover

The deer got mine. One plant did ok, another not so well but not much sun. 2 more had NONE at all cos bl**dy deer got them.

Frost got to mine 2 weeks ago, poor things looked like they'd been fried in the sun. Going to try some of the yellow courgettes next year. Squash were a disaster and didn't ripen.

I borrowed Mrs Dobbys idea (I think) and sowed a later courgette plant than the early ones and its still going strong, it got a bit frosted last week but the smaller leaves are still there and it still fruiting. I think I will fleece it up for the next frost or two, although its still very warm here atm.

Mine is a Atena courgette, whats the best yellow courgette out there in your opinion?

I really like the yellow ones as they are much easier to see and not be left with a marrow by mistake!

Still picking courgettes here too, they've been fab, have had a lot of disappointments this year due to weather, wildlife and general newness, but the courgettes have been a real high point.

Had to pull mine a couple of weeks ago to clear the area before we came to France. There were loads of small ones growing which was a bit sad, but I imagine by now the frost would have nipped them as our lottie is in a frost pocket.
They were so slow in growing and flowering this year that the glut we normally have never occurred. .....perhaps next year??

Mine all stopped a few weeks ago. They are outdoors though and the wet weather, lack of sun, lack of pollinating insects all did for them. No glut, but that's probably just as well - maybe next year!! We grew All Green Bush and Gold Rush (guess which colour is which lol) but I wouldn't blame the performance on the variety necessarily as I'm sure the weather and my newbie garden care will have had more to do with it than anything else!
