Help what should I do, my plum tomatoes are not ripening and I am losing more of them everyday to rot because of all the rain. The plants are dying off and/or looking very sorry for themselves. Should I pick off what fruit I can and try and ripen them on the kitchen windowsill?. It seems a shame to leave them on the plant when all they are doing is rotting away. My moneymakers are taking ages to ripen as well but dont seem to be rotting like the plums.

But don't worry if you leave them for another month they should be fine and ripen, you could also feed them if you are not feeding as this will help them ripen

I would just pick them and take them indoors Kimbo. I think you will find they will just ripen all by themselves. They might have no great flavour for salad tomatoes (or they might be great) but they will certainly be fine for cooking.

Ripe apples and bananas are the fruit to place near green tomatoes to ripen them - either on the windowsill or in a paper bag. I would favour the windowsill still as there are still more sunny days ahead ( fingers crossed!!!!)"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
