Hello Elaine, Welcome to the vine.
You can plant some things now such as, Second cropping potatoes and Broad beans. You can prepare the ground for next year nowby covering it with black plastic as this will stop weeds growing.
What state is your allotment in now ??

Overwintering Onions (from sets) are something else as well. you can try some early sowings of carrots & Peas under cloches as well.

If you can get hold of some well rotted muck you could dig some of this in to the bean trench & spread some on the top of the soil where you plan to plant your tatties next year.

You can also plant garlic cloves next month to overwinter.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

You could start off some spring cabbage in pots now to be transplanted when you've prepared a bit of ground.

you have a right to be here.
