lol
well when I said pure water I didn't mean Evian or Danone! I meant pure as in not from the water butt as so many of people have told me it has stuff in like the guy from the grow it article said poo from the birds etc etc!
I take 3 bottles of 1.5 litre of tap water to the allotment.
I have covered my bath so there is no light getting to it and there is a cut out for where the guttering goes into the bath. I will use the bath water for plants and use tap water for the seedlings just as I have done at home with the veggies in pots I have.

Obviously - nobody should drink water butt water which can as you say have bird droppings in it or algae. I expect that a copper coin left in the water will kill most of those. It will be fine for plants and won't do you any harm as long as you don't drink it. Both the plants and we ourselves are meant to live in the real world environment and we are well equipped to deal with most natural things we will come across. One of the main causes of increasing childhood allergy problems is that mums are spraying and disinfecting everything a child comes across in his first years. The immune system needs to come across normal levels of bacteria and fungus. Nobody in my 1950s and 1960s school days was allergic to nuts or anything else and we were dirty little critters, I can tell you.
