Germinated chilli seeds

I've managed to germinate some Dorset Naga's...or i think i have
Now some of the seeds have small white shoots about 2mm long at what point and how should i pot them up? (im aware that the light is fading...just a little experiment )

You're way too early Dan. You shouldn't even be trying to germinate before Feb/March next year.

the white shoot down but like rustylady says you are too early, I did them in Jan 2 years ago and they got very leggy but give a few a go if you wont

You've got them to germinate ok, and you may get some plants to grow a bit. However, it is now dark old UK winter, and there ain't going to be enough light for those plants to survive until spring.

ok cheers guys....dont worry i havent spent money on them...i have a friend with plants...i was testing some methods of germinating....think i'll wait till feb time!

after my 1st season growing my own Im counting down to next year...i've even planned the beds out!!

i've got a growlight, plugs into a light socket, and basically costs a light bulb to run, i know it works, as i grew some stuff in a dark cupboard this year..... i have a large cupboard, which i'm going to line with silver foil to maximise the light ..... i'm planting some peppers and stuff to overwinter , and hopefully keep going, as they are perennials, i figure it's worth a go

I sowed some of my chillies and peppers last year on 6 Jan in a heated propogator in small newspaper pots. They were moved onto a window ledge with night time protection when needed and then repotted into a frost free and sunny conservatory. They did brilliantly and particularly for those with a longer season then I'd recommend it to anybody. Didn't need grow lamps etc at all (although it did get very congested on the window ledges!) and they didn't go leggy. However, you might struggle this early but I'd certainly give them a go. Just make sure they don't get too warm and grow them hard. They may be fine and you may find you'll be picking chillies in March or something although I suspect that you'll just have a very small plant until it warms up!
