The ones they boiled for 3 hours for school dinners (to make sure they were really tender I assume!) were pinky-brown. I wonder if it's exposure to the sun? Some people snap over the outer leaves to protect the curd which is supposed to stop it discolouring.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

A lot of mine were brown/purple tinged even though I bent the leaves over them...................I think it was where slugs or snails had been crawling over the top of them nibbling them!
