I have acquired 10 bags of mushroom compost and would like to know which part of my allotment would best benefit from this, or could I just spread it all over the plot.

I was pleased to read this having just ordered 20 bags of MC for my veggi plot! (to be...)
Were we have sited the plot is what was a stoned area under membrane by the former residents. Whilst it has not been used to grow and should be nice fertile soil (our area is famous for it's good soil) it is very clayish and compacted. I have spent many a day turning it over to let the frost do its thing and am hoping some MC will help it on it's way.

Our old allotments were like potters clay when we first aquired them and we mixed in a pile of both mushroom compost and used brewers hops (wonderful smell).Thought the hops (Robinsons brewery) would kill everything but was very pleasanty surprised by the results. Don't know if it was the mushroom compost or hops or the combination but the one area we concentrated on was much lighter for years -and productive."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Location....Normandy France
