  • It's all gone haywire!

I checked my plot yesterday (after a frost) and was rather surprised...
The spuds I planted in August that had done nothing have suddenly all popped up. About half of the plants have grown as expected and should be ready in a couple of weeks, but what about the others???
I also have a few rows of onions that I thought had died earlier in the year (were supposed to be 'year round' onions) which are going great guns. A lone potato plant has popped up in a bit of the garden that I planted last autumn (and got horribly frosted) and a few others which were clearly left over new spuds from the spring have made an appearance in the leek bed.

Someone tell me that this is normal for this time of year!!!!

A local village has a sign commemorating the great frost of '56. The temperature didn't get above -26c for 3 weeks................... (I think that may have been unusual)!
