  • Curled tomato leaves.

    Afternoon,

I've read up that this could be psychological stress or a disease. I'm assuming the former as it's very hot in the day in my tunnel and very cold at night. But will they recover? Some are worse than others but the urbankiky look particularly bad. See these pics:

I've been moving the ones in pots out of the tunnel in the day if I can. But it apprears to be developing on most of my toms. I had a couple like this last year but they starting twisting as well and looked very unwell so I got rid. This doesn't look as severe but defo want them to recover!

Can you cover them with fleece at night? I am also watering in the morning rather than later on, plants don't want to be sat in cold wet compost overnight with these temps. They should survive.

Yeah they are covered at night already.

Toms really don't like temperature fluctuations, but they will hopefully be ok, if a little twisted and curly. You might need to double or triple up of the fleece in there for the cold nights.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

It's probably the heat doing that, that's usually what causes it, although the wide fluctuations don't help.
It's not in and of itself harmful, though. The curly leaves can still do their job, and they won't just die off, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I figured it was the heat. It's been crazy hot in the tunnel recently. I've started putting them outside in the day and might use some netting as shade for the rest that I can't move. I hope they do recover as these 3 are ones I defo don't want to lose.

You won't lose them. The curling itself is harmless. The leaves may not ever uncurl, but the new leaves should grow normally, and the curled leaves still work just fine.
You might want to consider better ventilation during the day, though.
