I have a bed of what I thought was all germidour. Quite a few have recently sent up a flower stalk. It's possible I've mixed something up and it's not what I thought. Or it's all bolting? I was under the impression only hardneck does this. The ground is very dry but not overly so about an inch down so I doubt the garlic is stressed by that but could be wrong. It was planted in autumn and is otherwise growing well. Which is a first for me as usually it's totally rotten and covered in dust by now

Don't know much about garlic I'm afraid but I did find this.....
" Under stressful conditions a softneck type may partially bolt and grow a short pseudostem which will subsequently produce a small number of bulbils."
