  • Frosty Courgette!!

A little advice to a newish alotmenteer. I got a bit carried away and planted out a courgette only to be nipped by Jack Frost. It has only got the leaves by the looks and the stems and base look ok. Is it curtains for this one or will it recover ?

Hi ozzie, welcome to the vine, the thing to look at is the actual growing tips off the true leaves,i do not hold out any hope for it,they are very tender, like potatoes and runner beans am afraid, sow some more, put the frosted one in the warmer place, and just see, sorry to be the bearer of not good news for you.

Leave them in for a week or so and see what happens. Ours got nipped by frost earlier this week. Those leaves yellowed and died, but new healthy leaves are now forming at the centre of the plant, so I’m hopeful the plants will recover. If you don’t get any new healthy leaves, then re-sow some new plants and you’ll still get a decent crop.

Nothing extra to add (I'm a terrible procrastinator, which in this case would amount to wait and see). But just wanted to say hello and welcome. Hope you have a great growing year.
