I did manage to sow a 2nd batch of Meteor peas yesterday, but that was all.
No gardening time today, and I would probably need a snorkel anyway.

Tuesday jobs
Make cover for 2nd hotbed - done
Sow tomatoes and lettuce to replace ones eaten by slugs - done
Try to make a cover for apricot tree (flowering) - done
Weeding - done some
Harvest carrots - no, but did harvest some forced rhubarb.
The weather today is comprehensively dreadful and all I will be able to do is check that the covers over the hotbeds are still in place when it stops raining.

Thursday jobs
Continue weeding hotbed - done some
Continue tidying garage - done some
Harvest leeks, carrots - done
Friday jobs
The main job today is to attempt to make a better cover for the hotbed, which is currently covered by a sheet of plastic over hoops, trapped between the layers of wood that make up the sides of the raised bed. This is very awkward to access.
My idea is to get 2 pieces of wood the length of the bed and roll the edges of the plastic round them and nail it on, then fix spring clips to the wood at one side to clip round the hoops. Hopefully that will be easier to open, won't blow away and can be removed and rolled up to store over summer.
I have got the wood etc, so this is going to test my dodgy DIY skills to the limit.

I did manage to find time to replace the cover over the hotbed with a sheet of plastic over some hoops. I can't use my clips on these hoops as they are too wide, so I have trapped the plastic between the layers of wood forming the sides of the bed and that will have to do. No doubt I will discover whether or not it works next time it is windy.

More appointments today and the wind has again trashed the hotbed cover. I will have to go back and sort it out again later today as all I had time to do this morning was drag the ripped cover back over the broken frame. That and possibly harvesting a parsnip and a carrot is all there will be time to do today.
