Too wet to do much for the first half of the morning, and inundated with damaged strawberries, so had to spend quite a bit of time making strawberry sauce to freeze. I did manage to plant out the calabrese (which were desperate) having cleared half a bed of cauliflowers, and took fennel, romanesco and melon plants to the allotment. Forgot to say I planted out the last lot of leeks at the allotment yesterday.

No gardening time tomorrow.

A combination of complicated factors this weekend meant that almost all the "gardening" I did was taking water to the allotment and watering plants. I have an issue with my car, which has gone to the garage this morning, and as my water carriers can leak a bit, I am reluctant to put them in the garage's shiny new courtesy car. Unfortunately until the garage ring me later today I don't know how long I will be without it - it could be days, weeks or even months depending on supply chains, as a replacement part is needed. I may therefore have to find a plan B (rain would be helpful!!!).

I did manage to harvest strawberries, raspberries, a cherry, a couple of blueberries, a cucumber, tomatoes, peas, potatoes and the first climbing french bean. At some point I also started cutting the leylandii hedge, and I managed a bit more of this yesterday as it is in the shade.

This week has been a disaster - I was going to use the cooler weather to catch up, trim hedges and generally get prepared for the heatwave. However, I have been trapped in the house waiting for phone calls that didn't arrive and I got Covid (no idea where from) and have therefore had no energy and been unable to do all but the absolute essentials plus a few bits that required no energy. I still feel very weak, so I am taking things easy.
