TOday I shall be mostly snoozing! ... Came back off holiday, the following week picked up the keys to the allotment and then b*gger me, me and Mrs G both came down with Covid having managed to avoid it for the last 2-3 years !

pretty much over the worst now but the slightest bit of effort ( like getting dressed, walking upstairs with a coffee etc)and we're both wiped out.

Still at least I got my order in for some seeds and potatoes and I've planned how I want the new plot.so all is not lost.

Hardly any time for gardening yesterday, but I noticed the blight resistant Oh Happy Day tomatoes at the allotment were starting to develop blight. Picked all the green fruit in the hope that some if it will ripen before it rots. About 1/4 of the Sungold I picked have gone brown, with more doing so every day at the moment (this is quite normal for fruit picked from blighted plants). Harvested calabrese, carrot and a couple of very small runner beans.

Today I harvested 3 buckets of Desiree potatoes (including 2 planted in June) for a total of about 3.5kg potatoes. Also cut down the blighted tomatoes at the allotment and sprayed the whitefly and aphids again. Tidied up a bit and removed dead courgette and strawberry leaves. Harvested courgette, leek, lettuce, salad leaves and beetroot.

I need to do lots of weeding by my brocolli plants,I started the other day but it got dark at about 4pm & check them for caterpillars again,there was loads of full grown caterpillars on one plant (the biggest best plant ). I’ll harvest my one & only butternut squash tomorrow,weather is getting colder. Check all the plants,deadhead dahlias,petunias & geraniums. My marigolds seem to have finished early this year,it’s strange.
